Ted Cruz loses another website name - but this time, for a good cause
Apparently Sen. Ted Cruz didn’t learn his lesson with the embarrassment of TedCruz.com.
A year after the domain with his name was used to support Democrats, Cruz missed out on CruzFiorina.com when he picked his running mate Carly Fiorina. But this time a friend of the campaign scooped up the site just before the official announcement - and used it for a charitable cause.
Texas Republican consultant Matt Mackowiak saved the campaign from another embarrassing site or high ransom for the domain, transferring ownership to Cruz late Monday.
“I’ve never wanted to make money on this. I wanted to make sure a friend not a foe owned the site, in case it became useful,” Mackowiak said.
